FRIDAYS ONLINE 2 OF 2

Moving sidewalks and flying cars, that's how everyone seems to envision the future. In this image, however, we see a different picture of a possible future. What do you think the world will look like in 100, 200, 300 years? Will we be more advanced, heading toward a utopia of sorts, as seems to be shown in this image? Or will we head in the other direction (have you seen Mad Max?), toward a dystopia, an ugly future?

  1. ..I think they future will get too complicated and make everything to easy. Like certain things that shouldn't be made easier. For example the toilets that fush on their own or the sinks that turns by you moving your hand under them. Sometimes they don't even work, and it makes it harder to use them. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a future like WALL-E and everyone is fat since we have robots doing everything. I'd say maybe a future like The Fifth Element would be goode enough.

  2. I don't think the future is going to be how anyone pictures it... No flying cars or anything. This image looks very real but I'm not sure if the future will really be this advanced. My vision of the future in 100, 200, 300 years, is like a prison.. We won't be able to do or go anywhere without the government's consent. I don't know why I picture it like that, but for some reason I don't think the future is going to be a very pleasant place.

  3. I think the future wont be pretty as shown in the picture. It wont be bright or colorful. With the direction we are going right now,i believe it will be quite the opposite. It will be dark, grimey and polluted with maybe a few futuristic things. idk about cars that fly though. That seems unrealistic. Even hundreds of years from now it does. Its hard to tell if we will have a future because of what we are doing to the environment and how the world is slowly changing. So hundreds of years from now i think those little changes that we barely notice now will be noticed in the future dramatically.

  4. I think with the direction that the world is headed that it is going to look the opposite of that picture. With all the natural disasters occuring, who knows if the world will even be here in 100s of years. Humans are the basic ones destroying the world, with all the polution and negligence towards the environment. I agree with Fernando, that the little changes we barely notice now will probably be noticed in the future dramatically.

  5. When I think about the future, it does not look good in my eyes. The US are in debt and it looks like were never going to get rid of it. There might not even be no more government due to it. Their has been more natural disasters going on around the world and i believe that is going to continue growing all over the world. I see an ugly future down the road.

  6. I agree with Ashely because humans are the ones who are destroying the world we live in.

  7. We are going to be so advanced in the future. I picture flying cars and a life up in the sky. Instead of people going downtown, they will be going to hightown, which will be in the sky. I hope the future will only get better for future generations, unless the world ends or something like they say. I don't think that's going to happen.
Also, dogs will be able to speak, maybe even all animals. And we won't have a currency, everything will be free. There won't be a government; there will be a King and Queen. I picture it like Alice in Wonderland. The world will become a Wonderland. I believe it can only get better from here.

  8. I believe the future will be amazing to a certain degree. Things will be so advanced that normal things we do like go to the bathroom or take a shower would become even more easy to do. Then i think about our natural resources. In millions of years, we will not be able to use that anymore. Also, plants and animals will probably be gone because humans are going to fill up the earth and we will have to destroy forest to make homes for us.

  9. I don't agree with Joyce. That sounds horrible.

  10. I picture the future not being that great, i mean already the economy and state of our earth is in no great shape. I actually see Joyce's view. THe government has way too much control!!! and i actaully do see our society controlled by the government in the near future. I mean already they are developing things like the chip, its the whole big brother concept like someone is always looking over you. Creepy!

  11. I really doubt our future is going to look anything like this.
Actually, its gonna be pretty terrible....were gonna end up running out of scarce resources like oil and were are going to have to walk everywhere.
Hopefully we will be in better shape because of it but still....walking sucks.
The lack of resources is gonna cause problems between countries.
Everyone should stop wearing things with peace signs because it isnt going to happen! Just stop it!:)

  12. I honestly think our future is going to look the same as everything looks now. Everyone is afraid of change and doesn't want the everyday things around us to look any different. Change scares humans for some reason.

  13. I AGREE WITH UANAIZABEL, I HIGHLY DOUBT THE FUTURE WILL LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THIS PICTURE.RIGHT NOW THE WORLD IS NOT IN TO MUCH GOODO SHAPE ,PEOPLE LOOSING JOBS, GLOBAL,WARS ETC. TECHNOLOGY IS ALSO TAKING OVER. I ALSO AGREE WITH SARAH IS SAYING.

  14. I feel like our future will not be that much different from now. As far as cars and traffic lights in the sky, something like that will probably make it to the future. I think that the future will be a continuence of growing electronics. The iPhone4, 3D movies, recording TV shows and things like that will be what makes our future, nothing outrageous like in the photo above.

  15. I disagree with Hannah. I think things like that are too extreme for our world and would be unsuccessful.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with Hannah and disagree with Joyce!!
I think overall life will be the same except with more advancements. Right now we can do face time with our phones, but a few hundred years from now we will be able to do that with sun glasses... We will have to have stop signs and lights higher up for our flying vehicles too. We wouldn't be flying through clouds like planes do or anything because that is just too unrealistic. We will be flying just a couple feet above ground, but it will still be awesome!

  17. And i disagree with giovannieomar... I think toilets that flush on their own and sinks that turn on by themselves are pretty great and in the future they will ALWAYS work (:

  18. From what I think is that in the future the technology will always being improved. But the way that every thing will look like to me might end up being similar to how it is right now.So the way i see the future is just our technology getting better and not much else.

  19. I agree with Ashley.. There is alot of natural disasters going on that may make the future look really ugly for us.

  20. I also agree with Ashley, natural disasters are happening everywhere!

  21. I think everyoe wishes the world would look that pretty in the future but I doubt it. Im sure that there will be a point where technology will go its fartest. Flying cars might come in the future because we already have airplanes so it would be easy to make a car fly, but other things I doubt. And anyways who knows if we will ever go as far as 100 years because of what we are doing to the world. I actually think it is going to stay the same.

  22. I agree with Giovannie. The world will have useless things that will make life too easy. I actually was talking about this with my boyfriend. In the future the dollar store will sell ipods and have their own phone plan!! The robots and chrome will take the place of humans!! creepy I know but its like the book 1984.

  23. Sometimes its hard to picture a beautiful futuristic world. Reason for that is look at everything going on in the world with pollution and also not everybody is friendly, we have bben in a couple of wars and currently in one rite now. Dont get me wrong i would love to see an amazing future like the one in the picture but lets be honest its going to be very tough to get there. With determination who knows, maybe in a hundred years teens will be going to the DMV to get there drivers license,,, for flying cars that is.

  24. @hannah wow your future is really really in the future. but i like it would be a nice creative future indeed.

  25. I picture the world in 100-300 years sort of like the film, The Fifth Element. There will be flying vehicles, skyscrapers taller than the twin towers ever were, and down way, way down below where human used to thrive will be landfill. Just piles and piles of garbage because I don't think society as a whole is doing too great with recycling and reducing our garbage like it should be. But something much more positive to look at is the way they have meals in that movie. Lilu grabbed a small package, ripped it open and pour the contents onto a ginormous platter. And all that was in the package were a few crumbs. After she microwaved it for about a second, out came a huge, mouth-watering turkey. That's something to look forward to.

  26. Hey Imelda, that's pretty interesting! The fact that you think the world will stay the same made me think: just how far CAN technology go?

  27. I think were heading toward an ugly, lazy, prejudiced future. If you look at a lot of the problems and events going on in the world you'll realize that what some people want to accomplish is just so stupid! America seems to be going back on a lot of it's previous belief's making for a mixed up and crazy world. And if right now is crazy, then the future will make no sense at all. I want to believe that the future will be like the picture above. It reminds me strangely of nature. The houses (if that's what they are) look like white blades of grass sprouting out from the ground. The future I see in this picture is a future were nature and technology could co-exist, maybe. Today however we are focusing more towards technology instead of nature, which could also be seen in this picture. The natural blades of grass have been replaced by something fake, not natural. I really would like to believe in a nature/technology future, but sadly I feel that with the way world is heading, that's not going to happen unless people take of the blindfold that seems to have been placed over their eyes.

  28. I agree with both of you Joyce and Fernando. As I've said the future I see, isn't a pretty one. It'll probably be a mix of both your ideas together or far, far worse.

  29. I think that we humans will keep advancing in technology. I also thing that eventually things will go bad. Maybe another world war or an outbreak of disease. We are do for a massive earthquake anyway. Somethings is going to go wrong

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think that technology will keep advancing. In the future humans will hardly have to do more than just press a button to get anything done probably not even that maybe just say a command. I beleive people are going to get SUPeER fat. Since now they are to busy to cook and excersise they just get fast food to go and dont have time to excersise or even relax. The future air will be so polluted but then again by that time people would have adapted or evolved to being used to it. I beleive there is going to be another world war. I dont know why but I believe that. Hopefully the technology is so great that it could come up with a way not to pollute then air and to save the earth. Who cares about the people becasue everytime someone dies another person is born, but if we don't take care of the earth then there won't be anywhere for the people to be born in/.

  31. I think Jordan is right we are do for something and something going to go wrong.

Also Sal is right it is hard to picutre a beautiful futuristic world right now. When things start getting better then maybe we can picture a nice future.

I think that picture needs to be altered just a bit. The sky needs to be all gray and smoggy and the world is going to be packed with people bombings everywhere. You know change it just a bit.

  34. i think our future will turn ugly.It will if we dont start making changes like recycling or not leaving trash everywhere. For a long time now,we have had movies that are based in the future looking all high tech and that still hasnt happened.if we dont start making changes now,we wont have a good future.

  37. Lol Giovannie!
I hate the sinks that wont turn on! It takes forever to wash your hands.
Or when the toilet flushes and scares you!
they should just stick to the knobs.

  38. Eww that future doesnt look cool!
    It looks lame!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with giovannie the automatic sinks get me so frustrated when i try to wash my hands i have to move to a different sink or hit it until it turns on even the soap dispensers have to be hit sometimes

  40. I believe that in the future, we will reach a peak of some sort in technology, then crash. Everything will probably be nice and perfect for a bit at some sort of peak. eventually this planet will be ugly and poluted. Human health will probably continue to deteriorate and most people will be ignorant and rude. Thats what I think will happen but who knows. I believe I will be gone by then.

  41. I do agree with Uanaizabel; that picture of the future does look pretty lame

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Blake Foreshee it's most likley true that yeah you will be gone by the time it crashes all of us will and it will be a whole new generation that will have to deal with all the disaters that will happen becsaue we aren't doing anything right now to prevent it. IDK.

  43. life in the future hmmmmmmmmm.........its going to be too advanced to enjoy. the world around us is going to be so advanced its going to do amazing things but the simple things people would enjoy are going to be boring. the friday night football game id love to do would be too dangerous or maybe even banned. hopefully it doesnt become so advance. i appreciate life the way it is now.
