Happy Birthday Wishes...this one is inspired by your professor forgetting to bring cupcakes to celebrate Reba's birthday on Wednesday..fallable human! Sorry, Reba. So, for this post you get to do two things:
1. say Happy Birthday to Reba!,
and
2. Ponder a little bit why it is that we commemorate birthdays. If your answer is, cause it's a birthday, think some more. Only one hundred years ago almost noone even knew when their actual birthday was, so why do we now remember?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIthink that people started thinking that a birth should be celebrated since were not gonna be around forever and people want to celebrate that we lived another year.
People I guess wanted to celebrate their lives!
But I do wonder who first started celebrating birthdays?????? anyone have an answer?????
..HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!!!..
ReplyDelete..I think birthdays were celebrated because that is the day people are born??. I'm guessing people wanted to be remembered for the that day, or maybe someone wanted a day to be celebrated just for him or her..
HEY HEY HEY!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who you are but oh well. :) Have a great one.
...I think we celebrate birthdays because we are happy and impressed at the fact that our momma's had the strengh and tolerance to face the pain they went through. haha
HAPPY Happy BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteI think people started celebrating birthdays because there aren'nt enough holidays in the year. That makes sense to me...
Haaappy Happyyy BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! : )
ReplyDeleteWell are celebrating the day of their actual birth! Also, we are celebrating that they are 1 year older and its also a congratulations for getting through the last year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWE CELEBRATE OUR BIRTHDAY BECAUSE GOD HAS BLESSED TO SEE ANOTHER YEAR. ALSO THATS DA OUR MOTHERS GAVE BIRTH TO US AND WE ARE CELEBRATING BECAUSE THEY HAD US !!!!
an answer to your question-
ReplyDeletePeople started celebrating birthday's when they first wrote the calender.
The parties and gifts came about because people believed that a person
was more vulnerable when their daily routine was changed, such as
someone turning one year older. The gifts were to keep the evil spirits at
bay because they believed keeping the person happy and surrounding
them with friends and family was the way to keep them nasty bastards out :]
haha i just copied and pasted that from this website-

Happyyyy Birthdayyy Rebaaa!!! (:
ReplyDeleteI think that people started celebrating their birthdays so that they would remember how old we turn each year and to celebrate the blessing of our birth. It is a day that you get to celebrate with your friends and family and share the love.
Also, I agree with Hannah because it is celebrating that we made it through another year of age.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!
ReplyDeleteHOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY
I believe that we remember our birthdays because its a like our own little holiday. Its exciting because you get to do whatever you want, get presents, and a cake. We all remember exciting moments in our lifetime. We don't remember boring things like doing chores or like Dr. Schmoll said we don't want to remember driving up to a red light and braking and waiting for it to turn green.
Happy Birthday Reba ;)
ReplyDeleteBirthday celebrations now have just become a custom and tradition. We celebrate it just to remember that special Birth Day.
wow I seriously wasn't that! haha but thank you.
ReplyDeletePeople started to celebrate birthdays when the calendar was fist out. Birthdays are now more materialistic because people felt that they deserve a reward for living. In older days it was unusual to have people live long lives so it was almost a guilt thing. But when they first came about they were to celebrate life and the fact that a person had lived another year.
Happy birthday girl!
ReplyDeleteThe reason i believe we commemorate birthdays is the fact that first we were born on that day but to also keep track of how old we are. Our age helps us understand reasons why we have different phases in life, and why we go through different emotions (especially when dealing with health issues). For example a person who is in their terrible two's behaves differently than a person who is 10 yrs old. It creates a special day set aside to celebrate the existence of someone's life and to also help guide certain difficulties that different ages face.
Have A Wonderful Birthday Reba!!
ReplyDeleteI believe that commemorate birthdays is important because you are celebrating another year living for someone you care about. It's a day that can make u feel special and humans always want a reason to be happy. Being alive for another year in today's society is a blessing so why not make it a big deal!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA! BE SAFE & HAVE FUNN
ReplyDeleteI think people started to celebrate birthdays because they realized they were an important aspect in our lives and they needed to be recognized in some way or another.
See Reba told you that you should check the friday writing!! See!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hannah for answering my question!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that people celebrate each year the day of their birth so that they can remember how many years they have been in this world.
Wait, your birthday's November 3rd?
ReplyDeleteMINE TOO!
Happy Birthday Reba!!!!
I think celebrating one's birthday is a way of acknowledging how long we've been on Earth, and also all the fun stuff we get to do once we've reached certain ages. Like 21 for instance. I don't know what's that thing we're allowed to do legally once we're 21.... I always forget.
No, but with age comes wisdom, experience, memories, etc. It's good to know how old you were when you did such and such. When you spoke your first word, started dancing, graduated from college, broke your hip. Lots of fun stuff.
Happy Birthday Reba<3!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI agree with giovannie... I think people now celebrate birthdays because they want a day all about them and celebrated for them, and what better than the day you were a born?
Also its pretty funny that 100 years ago people didn't know when there birthdays were cuz my great-grandma has been 105 for like the last 4 years now... No one knows when her real birthday is
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBA!
ReplyDeleteI think that we celebrate our birthdays now and remember them is so that we can cherish our life and everything that we have gone through. Also even congratuating ourselves for being able to make it through another year despite all the troubles we have had.
Happy Birth Anniversary Reba!
ReplyDeleteIts a reminder that says "Congradulation! You havent died!!!" A huge accomplishment taking into consideration that just about anything can kill us now a day.
Happy Birthday to Gina too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birhtday Reba!
ReplyDeleteI think we remember birthdays now because of aging. I think scientist thought of remembering age and days of birth for health experiments and other things of that sort.
REBA!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! OMG I SIT RIGHT NEXT TO YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI think we remember birthdays now because i guess its considered a privalege to live another year and its true. I think we should all be grateful on everyone of our birthdays because its very special day. But also i see my birthday as being another year closer to death.
Im sorry its late reba but i couldnt get to a computer. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI think having a birthday and celebrating them is to commemorate that u have lived one more year longer. Not many can even be given the gift of life and its a tragedy. So to be able to say i have lived another year is surely a reason to celebrate because not many live that long. SO appreciate what is given to u. Another year to live life.
I like Shay's answer!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=)
ReplyDeletei think its to celebrate that the birthday person has lived another year, learned and matured.
i agree with fernando.
ReplyDeletethat youre able to celebrate another year of living and still being able to be with family and the people who care about you.
